Amar Rughani is a full-time GP in Sheffield where he works in a large multiple-training practice, experiencing the realities of patient care and contributing to the learning of today's GP trainees.

As an educator, he is an Associate Postgraduate Dean in the Yorkshire and the Humber Deanery, where his lead roles are in the assessment of performance, appraisal and continuing professional development.

Nationally, he is a senior RCGP Examiner and was part of a group that designed and implemented the nMRCGP.

Currently, he is RCGP Blueprint clinical lead, responsible for ensuring that the separate elements of the exam work coherently. He also helped to produce the GP curriculum and is part of the RCGP group that is developing the curriculum further.

Using these perspectives, he writes for the 'Crammer's corner' section of InnovAiT (the RCGP Journal for trainees) to inform, educate and hopefully reduce anxiety in those who are worried about the exam!
